All three give you a bottle that has never held anything. They differ enormously in what they cost the planet and your budget.
Rebottled
A brand-new HDPE bottle fitted into a refurbished, straightened, re-footed cage on a reused pallet. Virgin interior, reused steel — roughly 58% less embodied carbon than a fully new unit.

One-trip
Filled exactly once by the original product manufacturer, then emptied. Functionally almost new, priced well below new, and the cage has barely been handled. Availability is unpredictable — we buy them whenever we see them.

Factory-sealed composite IBC with manufacturer documentation. The right purchase for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and infant-food contact, or when a current-year UN marking on a virgin container is non-negotiable.

A new tote is not a sin. Buying one out of habit, for a job a washed cage would have done perfectly, is the thing worth avoiding.
Before you order new, answer one question: does the product you are putting in it care about the bottle’s history? If the answer is no — and for non-potable water, fertilizer, soap, coolant, brine and waste collection it is almost always no — a reconditioned unit is the better purchase in every dimension that matters.
