Terms of sale
The commercial terms we actually operate under, written to be read. Last updated October 2026.
1 · Quotes
Written quotes are firm for fourteen calendar days unless stated otherwise, and are specific to the quantity, grade, format and freight lane described. Used stock is finite: if a lot sells before you confirm, we will tell you and re-quote rather than substitute a different grade without asking.
2 · Grades and descriptions
Grades are defined on our grades page and mean the same thing on every order. A unit that falls between two grades is sold as the lower one. Photographs supplied with a quote are of the actual units offered, not stock imagery.
3 · What we warrant
- That the unit matches the grade and description supplied in writing.
- That the last-contents disclosure is accurate to the information we hold.
- That the wash record describes work actually performed on that unit.
- That the unit was leak-held for thirty minutes without weeping before despatch.
4 · What we do not warrant
- Fitness for your specific product. Chemical compatibility, permeation risk and regulatory suitability are yours to determine; we will advise, but the decision is yours.
- That a used container satisfies any particular third-party audit, certification scheme or regulatory regime.
- Any UN or DOT rating except where a recertification certificate from a licensed reconditioner is supplied with the unit.
- Remaining service life. Used equipment is used.
5 · Inspection and acceptance
Inspect on arrival. Notify us of any discrepancy against the written grade within five business days and we will make it right — replacement, credit or collection, your choice. After five days, and once a unit has been filled, it is accepted.
6 · Returns
Unused units in the condition supplied may be returned within fourteen days. Return freight is yours unless the unit did not match its written grade, in which case it is ours. Fabricated, cut, stencilled or otherwise customised units are not returnable for obvious reasons.
7 · Freight
Freight quoted is for the lane and equipment described. Changes at your end — no forklift, a door that turns out to be too low, a gate locked outside the agreed window — may incur a redelivery charge, which we will tell you about before incurring it. Risk passes on delivery to your nominated address.
8 · Payment and title
ACH or company cheque; card for orders under $5,000. Net-30 for established accounts. Title passes on receipt of cleared funds. Buyback payments are issued the day the load weighs in at Livonia.
9 · Buybacks and incoming material
When you sell to us, you warrant that you have the right to sell the units and that the last-contents disclosure you give us is accurate and complete. Undisclosed hazardous residue is the one thing that will end a commercial relationship with us immediately, because it puts our wash-line crew at risk.
10 · Limitation of liability
Our liability on any order is limited to the value of that order. We are not liable for consequential loss, lost product, lost production or downstream claims. If that allocation does not work for your situation, tell us before you order and we will discuss it rather than hide behind this paragraph.
11 · Website terms
Content on this site, including the reference material in the size guide and knowledge base, is provided for general information. It is written by a reconditioning yard and is not regulatory, legal or engineering advice. Specifications are working figures from our own stock; the nameplate of the specific unit you buy is the authority.
12 · Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. IBC Recycle LLC, 11966 Brookfield St, Livonia, MI 48150.
Have purchasing terms of your own?
Send them over. We read them, we mark them up honestly, and we do not pretend to accept terms we cannot meet.
